I'm wondering if there is more that attaches to my hood on my 55 Chevy pickup. This part shows no wear and I'm sure the hood has been slammed thousands of times. There are 2 holes that could be for bolts so I'm wondering.
The holes could be for rubber bumpers....................... Thant's all there is up there, lets see the male part down below.
so...has the hood been slammed thousands of times after it was painted? or did it get painted and put back together, and you don't know if there's something missing? Pretty sure the striker is hardened and was originally cad plated, so it would not get paint chips. here's my 59, slightly different, same idea.
Thanks guys. The pickup was torn apart decades ago. It had been a farm truck but the guy lost interest in it at that time. Fast forward to now, I have it and I have been rebuilding it, I painted it, and like you said Squirrel, now I'm doing final assembly to finish it, and I'm wondering if there is something missing. It never occured to me that it might be a hardened piece riveted on. My latch above the grill looks just like the one in the picture of your 59. Thanks again. The pictures are what I started with and about a week ago.
Thanks swade, the HAMB guys like you never fail. The latch just seems too simple with no spring or anything.
