looking for advice on placement of a b&m floor shifter in a 55 chevy sedan. i don't have the interior in so i'd be winging it. i could, i suppose, drag the front seat out of storage and place it and then go off of that. that'd be the smart move, right?

just curious if there was some magical location or it was just a case of line up the seat and drop 'er in.

    thanks.

if the shifter were on the column it would be easy...and better looking. IMHO

    best wishes

  3. You need to put the seat in it and sit yourself down. Then put the shifter where you can reach it comfortably. you may end up putting it on a pedistal.

or like Bob said rig up a column shift.

Judging by where I have the B&M shifter in my 55, which has buckets, you want the shifter to be about 6" further back than you can put it with a bench seat.

Column shift would fix that problem.
