I have a 1955 Chrysler Windsor with a spitfire. Will a late model transmission bolt up behind it?

No. What's wrong with the old one?

My brother has a 56 New Yorker with a 354 and a turbo 350. Not sure if the adapter kit will work yours. A spitfire is the poly motor right?

You'll need a 392 adaptor for what ever ****** you want to run. I like QEC's (73RR here) but TR Waters, Wilcap, & Hot Heads sell them.

55 Windsor Spitfire is a poly version of the Chrysler hemi. Same block as the 55 hemi used with the Powerflite automatic (not the extended bell used with the 53 and earlier Fluid Drive).

A cast iron torqueflite should bolt up to it, but you will need come up with an adapter for the shift cable. Also, since the torqueflite is longer by an inch or so, the driveshaft may need to be cut.

Hotheads sells A727 torqueflite adapters too for the old hemi and 301 Polys.

A Spitfire could be a poly or a flathead.
