1952-59 Ford 55 Customline rear end

Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows what rear end came in my car from the factory? It came with an in line 6. And is there another rear end from another car that would fit? Maverick/Granada etc? Thanks!

 

Granada or Maverick rear will work in your '55

'57-'59 Ford 9 in. rear is another popular swap

 

57 -59 Ford is probably the best for a good tire fit as it is the same length as your stock rear. Next is the 65-66 Mustang which is also the same length but a 8 inch which is more than adequate for the 6 and a worked small block. Both have the spring pads in the correct location (not sure about the 59)

The Granada/Monarch rears are about an 1 1/2 inches wider and will work, but tire install and removal is a ***** with it.

 

I have a 225-75-15 on a 7'' wide wheel and lowered 4 inches. I can barely get the tire out now. Not sure what would be the best. A friend of mine put a maverick rearend in his 53 customline and it fit great, but he also has skinny tires. Is the maverick rearend any difference in width?
