well i am 17 and in the process of building a 1955 f100 its a slow process with still being in school but im having fun doing it. i got the truck back in septeber and it sat for a while until we made room in the garage for me to work on it. funds are kinda low now that i lost my cleaning job but i am hopping that they will hire me back when sumer hitts to do sheetmetal fabrication, its an airconditioning shop by the way, and one of the oldtimers there has been teaching me some stuff and turns out i am preaty good at it. so hopfuly that will get some money for me soon. well i picked the truck up for $700 and ended up getting another for $175 for the frame cause the original one was thrashed. got a 351w for free from my auto shop and have a buddy who has built seven of these trucks and he has been a big help. so any ideas that you all have through them out there for me!
f trucks rock!!! nice score. do a search for my JAG IFS tech post. shows howto put a early 80's Jaguar IFS under them which gives you super low stance, ifs, disc brakes, power steering, and chevy bolt pattern, cost is cheap as chips, and takes a saturday afternoon to complete! good luck with the build!
Welcome to the HAMB. F-1 and 100's are a great way to go hot rodding. I've built a few- all traditional style (mostly stock outside. You can build a nice (relatively) cheap truck that looks cool and runs strong. There is tons of great help and advice available on here to someone who displays serious interest. But the first thing you're gonna hear when you ask questions is "have you done a search on here yet?". Don't ask me how I know that. And post your progress as you go.
Don't throw the old frame away, it has the vin # or should have it on top of frame just in front of the passenger side front cab mount. If you are not titled yet it might come in handy on the vin check that CA will require when bringing it back to life
Good for you, I obviously have an affection for effies. Here is what I started with at 17. Course that was in 62, been addicted since. Hope you will be also. Keep us posted on your progress.

wow thanks to all of you for your comments. i have done many searches and have gotten many ideas from them. all i can think of in school is working on my truck. i will attach some photos to get all of you up to date. i was pulling the motor out of the new frame that i got and swaped cabs. the motor i pulled out was a original y block, i a thinking of using it in my other truck which is a 1933 ford pick up if i dont get this flat head i am trying to convince this oldtimer to get rid of. thats a wole other project though.
Looks like a great project! I love the early F100's and drive mine daily. I am working on a cab swap, too. I seem to have the same large holes in the cab. If it was mine, I would keep the Y-Block in a '55 because the last year for the flat head was '53. And a Y-Block can sound oh so sweet. If you can get the flat head, save it for the next project, because not many people around here can have just one. Keep at it and have a lot of fun Conor
i think you may have missunderstood me, i ment i am going to put the y-block or the flathead in my other project which is a 33 ford pickup. i actually have a 351w for the 55 f100.
well i finished all my main body work on the cab and cant stick my fist in anythin i shouldnt hahaha i will try to get soe pics up tommarow
