So after buying the cab and trying to sell all the parts needed to fix it, I decided it was time to fix the cab. I had to move it one day and in the process of, the whole cab decided to fall apart at all the seams. It was bad to begin with and needed a ton of work but had to be fixed if i wanted to do anything with it. So last winter, I split the donor cab and and cabover at the factory seams. Lots of cutting, lots of grinding to get everything to line back up the way it should. The nice thing about splitting it like this, both halves of the cab bolted up to the subframe and acted as a jig since i had nothing to go off of. Now last weekend i decided to start tackling the doors. My pickup doors were pretty clean but still had a lot of rust and rot. I ground the skins and was able to cut away the inner door bottoms cleanly. Then i cut back the inner patch back to where it needs to be to accept the cabover hinge and door bottom. Now all i need to do is replace the lower outer skin and fit it. Then take on the second door. Plans changed on another truck i was doing so this cab wil be going on an f450 chassis with a power stroke and 5 speed trans. Ill clean up the motor and try to hide as much of the wiring and electronics i can to make it look stock. Ill go with the pale turquoise and white interior the truck came with originally. And swap out the 16" wheels for some 19.5" wheels to fill in those giant wheel wells.
