1952-59 Ford 55 Ford - Door won't close.

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by Rockabillykat666, Jun 3, 2010.

  1. my door mechanism has a spring that broke and for the last year i've rigged it to stay shut by staying locked at all times..it works for me but not the old lady..she's tired of getting out of the car on my side. i really cant see where the spring would latch on to. it's still connected to the lever that the outside door ****on pushes. anybody have any pics of the mechanism??

If you contact Retro Jim He can hook you up with the 1949-59 Ford parts CD for about $10 shipped to your door which has blow up pictures of every part in the entire car. It's probably the best $10 you'll ever spend.

I just saw a pair of them on EBAY, I'll look again and try to get the item number for you.

Here's a photo of the offending spring. The latch is from a '52 Victoria hardtop, but I think the sedan latches are the same.
