Does anyone have experience changing out the idler arm on a 1955 ford. Can't seem to figure out how it comes apart from the drag link. Thanks.
Go to the 52 to 56 ford group they will be able to help i'm sure. I havent done mine yet or id give you the info myself but those guys in that group are willing to help anyone they can.
i was able to get mine apart took me forever to figure it out. first you have to take the bracket with bushing and reverse thread it off the idler arm. then i kinda forget how to take it off the drag link cause i ended up breaking the bushing. i got all new bushings and seals and now i'm ready to put it all back together but i cannot figure out how to get the idler arm back on the drag link. if i flip it around it's easy to thread it on but that's not how it goes on according to my ford manual and looking at my other 55 ford. let me know what you come with..sorry i could'nt help out more
the idler nuts on the idler bracket itself and the centerlink go on first or just leave them in place. unbolt the idler bracket off the frame first then turn the idler arm off the bracket and then turn the arm off the centerlink (draglink) if you try turning off the idler nuts first you will probably ruin the nuts. the threads are different between the 2.
