Why is it that in real life, drama is virtually non-existent between men. Put a computer in front of them and all hell breaks loose. It's insane. Like the '90s rappers used to say, 'SQUASH IT!'. Back on topic, I love '55 Fords. My dad had a Customline Gasser in the '60s and that'll be our next project. Good work.
That's AWESOME!My new favorite line ever!I'd say hats off to Chili Phil but he'd just want to shit in it
Thanks for all the kind words fellas. Chili Phil is is quite the character! I think he can take his hat and shit in it, and use the left overs to shine his bald melon! I love the ride and it is "just a cruiser" that is what I built it for! As for adding molding to the side, then it would be near stock again. I already nosed and decked it. It is just a MILD KUSTOM and I am going to drive the piss out of it unlike the gold chainers who trailer their rides to shows. Thanks again to all who appreciate! Now if you'll excuse me I have to make sure my Pomp is perfectly coifed.
Hey! I have a full head of hair. After all the goofy comments, I still say that IF you paint it, you'll have a bitchen mild custom. It's pretty cool already, but it'd be better with some shine. Your hair shouldn't be cooler than your car.
Read my earlier post Funny. I said I realize I asked for opinions and I accept that. To each his own, I just think guys like to talk big junk on the internet and stir the pot when it is unnecessary.
My next project that I'll be working on this winter is a '55 Ford Fairlane Town Sedan that my parents bought new at Drake Motor Co. in Rockmart GA. I'm going to do some mild custom touches on it like shaving the deck lid and hood. I like the Fairlane side trim and plan to keep it. Plan to keep it stock mechanically (272 and 3 on the tree) except for upgrading to disc brakes on front using '80s big Ford spindles and front brakes. I'm partial to '55 Fords because I learned to drive on this car and drove it in high school and college, but from a strictly styling standpoint, it doesn't take a whole lot to make a '55 Ford look sharp. I like the '55 grille and side trim a lot better than '56. The styling guys got it right in '55.
Fair enough, about the hair, maybe you could join me in coifing the propper pomp with the left over poop.
Hey greasy71 I dig your car, its real clean. Im buildinge a 56 ford hence my name haha. I think your car would like great with some skirt maybe bubbles or cruisers. I have a pair of steel cruisers if your interested.
Von I think what you are trying to say is "did you pay for this build of did everyone else talking shit pay for it" If that is what is being asked, then I payed and turned the wrenches. That is why it is a mild build, I do not have the skills nor the cash for an extreme kustom.
Im saying if they paided for this build for you then they can talk shit but you paid for it so fuck it!!!
I think this is a nice ride man its kinda understated it doesn't look like you did anything on this car for the sake of just doing it. Drive the wheels off it brother!
I was surprised at a few of these comments... You know what? Flat black is a more consistent and acceptable finish than this: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3058502#post3058502 You have no voice in this conversation Mr. four door sedan. Phil... Always has an opinion, but doesn't have a hot rod. .......... I think some fellas have lost touch with what all of this is about. It's not about the shiniest paint or the most finished car or... I think it's just become in vogue to make comments like "flat black sucks" and "everyone has a belly button" when none of that shit is even relevant. You know what is relevant? You got a car together... and it's pretty damn clean (though I'd lose that leopard print - it isn't a girl car is it?) and you can go to the store in it and look/feel fuckin' cool doin' it. That's what it's about... DRIVING YOUR CAR... It's not about acceptance or what fashionable opinion is in vogue to have at the moment. All of that other stuff is for the folks that don't really understand passion. Driving this '55 Ford that you just finished, is what it is ALL ABOUT.
I'm curious about the leopard print you've got on the floor. Is this a material that will hold up? If so, where'd you pick it up at?
Thanks for the kind words Ryan, i appreciate it. As for the leapord print, the chicks love it, so I think I'll keep it, for awhile anyhow.
It is a leopard print indoor/outdoor carpet. A friend was doing his game room and this was left over. He is a master at hiding seems, and it is hard to tell that it was not made for the car. Thanks again guys. Paul
HeyGreasy71, Love the look of your 55. I am 67 years old and I ran flat paint on my first car and now 52 years later I am running flat paint on my current ride. I loved the look back then and still do today. Go for what makes you happy . Later, Dick
I like 55's. I like yours. Y-block? Like the dumpouts before the rear wheels. Drop the Kustom speak it's not really a custom. It's nice, I wouldn't kick it out of my garage. Paint, flatblack will work. I think you got slapped when TAYLOR posted his right after your post. Paint it when you have the cash.. or not. Drive it like you stole it, NICE RIDE, I dig it.
The 55 looks great, I like the syle and the black is bad-ass. You will have tons of fun. I had a 55 two-door post, 3 on the tree, y-block, 6 volt system..... here in Nebraska in the winter at -20 degrees you had to know how to do the "dance", choke in one hand, key in the other, clutch down, and one foot on the throttle. It always started but she didn't turn over too fast. take good care of her and she will treat you good. Gary
Sorry if you took my "kustom?" comment out of context. I know this is the internet so we shouldn't act like there are real people behind the other computers, but there are. I know you probably have a ton of time into it and are really proud, so if that did come off dickish, I apologize if it did. On the other hand tho, it gets tiring after cutting your hands to death trying to make a car and spending months, if not years on metalwork, bodywork, etc etc to have someone spraybomb a car flat black, throw some rockabilly-riffic accessories on it and call it a kustom "build". It's great people are getting into the hobby all the time as it is really a dying art form, and dicky comments will do nothing but turn them away, but at the same time it seems people pick up an Ol Skool and give it a go. "Build" doesnt come out of a rattle can or screw onto a car in 45 seconds using hand tools. On the THIRD hand, that is a clean looking car, and I'm sure it will be a ton of fun. I have had a bunch of old cars, most of them I would have traded with that in a heartbeat! Best of luck with it. (Maybe lower it? )
