On the z bar, how is the pivot ball mounted on the Y block engine side. Is there a bracket the ball mounts on or does it mount directly to the block? Does anyone sell these parts? Thanks for any help!

The pivot ball is mounted to the block on a bracket attached to the rear flange of the engine, on my 62 truck at least. I image applications vary. I did not find parts available, trying to explain pivot ball bushings to the parts man was painful

Looked at a stock 57 Ranchero with a 6 cylinder and it had the bracket on the motor that held the pivot ball. The Y block guys out there probably know of a parts source. If anyone had a picture of the stock bracket, that would help to fabricate a bracket to mount a pivot ball of the right diameter to fit in the z bar. Or if someone had a Y block bracket from another application, that could be modified for a 55 Merc or Ford. Thanks for responding!

Check the 55, 56,57 T-Bird sites, I think I saw one on one of those sites in their on line catalog.

Found a photo of a T bird bracket, not sure if the full size car bracket would be the same. From that photo, it’s obvious where it mounts to the YBlock. Those brackets aren’t cheap but looks simple enough to fabricate. Maybe a heim joint could be used in place of the pivot ball.
