  1. That gray one is nice because it is so subtle, just nice and smooth.

The green '56 that japchris posted is out of control, I love it! I really dig the 58 Ford trim on the '55 too, very cool car with the 3 piece rear gl***. Did anybody see a '55 Chevy at the Road Agent's show a few years ago with '55 Desoto side trim?

From Custom Cars Magazine - June 1959

Sharon Warner's '55 Chevy from Fremont California. Sharon was a member of the Dresdens car club. The car was built with help from Moeller Brothers shop, striping by Tommy the Greek. Interior s***ched by Sharon and the Dresdens.

White with gold in the '57 Desoto side trim. '56 Lincoln taillights, Corvette grille. Very nice!

I really dig that silver one...A friend of mine had a maroon one that I idolized for years and he just sold it about a year ago..I'll have to try and scan a pic in of it..I think it went to Texas if i remember right..It was a 55 hrdtp, Caddy caps, Packard lights, 54 Chevy grill and bagged..A really slick kustom..

started on mine quite some time ago, but other shop projects took all my time and i've recently re-started my work on it....chop was close, but i decided to hardtop it, shorten the length and change the c-pillar area so it's all cut up and in major surgery right now...soon as it is completed, i'll be lengthening the front doors and making it a two-door.should have the bodywork done and maybe have it on the road this summer.not going to post any pics right now, but after it's done, i'll post build-up and finished pics.there aren't enough of these cars customized...chopping the roof on a sedan and getting "the look" is a *****, at best.i will say that it is chopped 3.5 in the front and about 5 in the back...i didn't like the arch at the c-pillar, so it's getting one from another car.

Hey Peter Pan ,The Chevy your referring to was owned by a guy named Norm Baltes and was later featured on the cover of Cl***ic and Custom magazine in 83.Good news is the Cragars and raised white letters gave way to narrow white walls ***h 57 Lancers if IM NOT MISTAKEN but the car was seen in rod actios coverage of the nationals in 77.

  16. 00MACK, I think if my fading memory serves me at all, you absolutely correct.

The car always stuck in mind on account it was a really nice ride, almost a Radical Custom. It was the tire/wheel combo I never understood.

I remember there were quite a few Kustoms back in the late 70's,early 80's during the Custom Car resurgence that ran updated wheel and tires after near period perfect building. So many cars where spoiled with black walls, white lettered tires and hi-perf wheels. Really destroyed the "Look"! I have to say WWW's Rule!

Look for my Monday or Tuesday post, "Monday Merc Madness", Anthony! I scanned a ton of Custom stuff from back then. You'll have a field day with these.

Just like there are many kustoms from that revival period that had wide whites and caps that now run radials, billet and catalog steering wheels. Youd be amazed at how many cars from the early KKOA nats got ****ed up!

  26. Hey PPOC, there is a picture of that kar in LeRoi Tex Smith's book How to Build Custom Cars on page 51. It is a black and white photo, so it's hard to tell, but it looks to be in primer. It is also running Radir or Fenton style wheels with three bar knockoffs and skinny whitewalls. Always liked the looks of that kar from that picture. The photo was taken at a weird angle though and you can't really see much of the kar other than the side and roof. You can't see the taillights or the front end at all. Looking at these other pictures of it posted here it is a pretty radical kar! I like it alot! E

I went to a small parking lot show a few weeks ago. I'm usually the only custom at these small events. My jaw dropped to the ground when this beauty pulled in beside me. The owner's children had brought the car to the event for him. They didn't know anything about who built the car. They say the car has been in their Dad's posession for years and and is carefully stored.
