Did some trading and wound up with an all stock restored 55 Pontiac 2DR HT. Super solid car, issues here and there, but overall nice car. Plan is to get it ready for LSR in April. Not a lot to do but has some mechanical issues as well. As for noticeable changes: Lower 3 to 4 inches all around. A little chrome under the hood and hubcap make over. Some vintage exhaust tips. Possibly some pin stripes. Possibly new 1 or 2 size smaller tires. Ummmmm........ Done! Here is the canvas.

Great looking car, wasn't that on the Hamb classifieds for a while?

Improved stance and hubcaps will make a world of difference, it doesnt really need much else! If you're gonna change tires, some Firestone Deluxe Champions 6.70-15s would look killer.

    Make sure to post progress!

Yes, I got it from another HAMBer, Thanks. It has L78 15's now and they are a little big. Going to wait till the stance change to decide on the size change if any.

I did some work on the 55 today. Put some bullets on the hub caps and My buddy Chaddilac on the HAMB came over and did some striping. I wanted it to be subtle so it didn't over power the car and I think he nailed it! Problem is, its hare to get good pics?

He also did the dash but I forgot to get pics:(

The pinstriping is killer and the hubcaps turned out great! So, when are you going to drop it?

    Thanks
Soon as the blocks come in. They are narrow and only Posies seems to do them. I have the front end parts now.

I understand where you are coming from. However this is a Hot Rod and Custom site. A lot of Customs start off as stock or restored cars. This is a low option base Catalina and I truly believe it will look better and have more value when its done.

Looks great, can't wait to see it lowered.
I'd say that's about as subtle as striping could get! Looks nice.

looks a lot like my 2dr sedan but much nicer, good score!

  20. Toast. Better check the driveline to tranney tunnel clearance. I put 2" blocks on mine and my driveline rubs a little on a hard bump so to drop 4" you may have to raise your tunnel.
Love your Pontiac but I am a little bias. Wish I would have started with such a clean car. Good Luck.

Thanks, I will check that before I get too far into it. Thanks for the heads up.

Update teaser pics, put 3" blocks in the rear today. I was warned about drive shaft clearance issues even at 2" and glad I got the heads up. However there is still a lot of travel (we bounced it on the lift with the shocks un-hooked. Plan is to keep the 3" blocks and install some good poly bump stops above the axle on both sides as to keep the drive shaft out of harms way. Seems logical:rolleyes:

  28. lookin great! glad to see it kustomized. less is more is a hard thing to do but it never disappoints.

if you are planning on going with different tires, I may be interested in your old ones, if they're in good condition that is. send me the size they are and ill see if they fit my truck.

What kind of tires will you be switching to?

Hope you're sticking with bias plies!

Looks good so far, cant wait to see the whole car with the new stance.

Yer going with 670 15 Bias wide whites. Thanks, the new stance should totally define the car.
