working on the 55 Buick roadmaster i picked up a few weeks ago & have run into a minor dilemma. stock bolt pattern is 5x5. the previous owner installed a camaro rear with leaf set up. rear bolt pattern is now 5x4.75. id like to just swap the fronts now to a 5x4.75 pattern to match the rear. in the long run , i see more wheel options , & the need to only carry one spare. my question is , are their any factory bolt on swaps that would fit my spindles? or am i just left with drilling them? any help would be much appreciated , thanks. by the way , heres the Buick. not that a pic is needed , just wanted to share.....
thanks gimpy. my question now is , are these front or rear or usable at all four corners? im looking to do the fronts.
The work in all positions. I own a few of these, and they work really well. As long as the back side of your hub is flat, it will be a snap. If not, a counterbore/spot facer, used after drilling the small holes, on the back side, will make flats for the studs.
A stock '55 should be using lug bolts and a locator pin for the wheels. Not sure how much more that complicates things. The easiest way out might be to convert it to disc brakes up front with somebody's kit and run rotors with the smaller lug pattern on them.
