The bodies must be close enough, this guy did it. It looks bad***! I read somewhere that Ford ran some '54s with '55 trim while they were developing the '55 models to gauge public acceptance. Evidently it was a hit...

Looks like it would be a cool mod and be different than the standard 54. The hard and expensive part would be sourcing the trim.
