   Morning,
   I cracked open my original 55 Chevy truck differential and noticed these marks on the carrier.
   
   any clue what caused this? I do not see any damage or wear on the pinion or ring gear. No foreign objects in the diff. Just curious if anyone has a clue.

   The pinion nut came loose at one time, and then it was repaired.
