Anyone know there is a close radial tire size to a bias 550-16 tire? I know 550-16 are available just seeing if there is a cheaper option with a radial.
Maybe these. 5.50x16 Michelin X. No WW, cheaper though. Recommended rim width 3.25-4.00. $250@Coker. Probably available elsewhere too. Introduced in '49, teabagger's tires . Mike https://www.cokertire.com/tires/michelin-x-tt-550r16.html
Google says 550-16 = Diam 27.4 section width 6.1 tread 4.3 155 / 90 / 16 radial = compact spare tire Diam 27.0 section width 6.1 tread ? 16" radial tire sizes https://www.tirerack.com/tires/sizes/results.jsp?diameter=16 Radial tire dimension calculator https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=185-60r16-155-90r16
I don’t know about the law in your area, but trailer tires and compact spares aren’t legal where I am outside the stated usage. Doesn’t mean it hasn’t been done, but seems pretty sketchy to me.
Holy cow... I knew the Michelin X's in 15s were the hot ticket but had no idea they were made in 16". Good to know.
Basically the same question last Friday: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/help-600-x-16-6-00-x-16-tire-conversion.1277357/
