Does any one make an adapter to put a 56 Chevy 235 in a 54 Chevy. I checked with Tom Langston and he no longer makes them (I even checked the reference he suggested to another company). I would like to go with the 56 to get the better rear main situation. Thanks for your help. Later, Dick
You gotta make engine mounts, I have a 57 Chevy one in my 54, it was a pain, the 56 is the same has only got front side bosses
pain in the ass. i put a 55 235 in a 53. had to make engine/ trans mounts, and swapped rear ends for the open drive line. then had to buy an adapter to put the shorter earlier water pump on for clearance. brackets and pullys were different. everything. i would have small blocked it much easier had i known the unessesary hell i had to go through. not an exact swap.
Don't recall if this is Langston or not but Stovebolt Engine in Oregon was my supplier for the mounts several years ago. As I remember, these were modified Chassis Engineering mounts for a smallblock in an early chev. Maybe CE can help you out.
I called and talked to Chassis Engineering and they do not have a mount. The guy I talked to wants them to build one, but it hasn't happened yet. I think I will stay with the 54 235. Later, Dick
