hi, I have a 56 buick special, 4 door hardtop (no pillar). But my rear door window glass is cracked and I was going to hit a local yard that has old stuff and find replacements. Their inventory shows they have Century's, and also 55 and 57s, but not my exact model and year... anyone know which if any of that glass is interchangable with my rear doors.

Also, while I am there, I am missing the trim peice that covers the edge of the headliner above the doors, is the Century or an adjacent years car going to work for me on that?

    I appreciate any knowledge-sharing...

anything but Super and Roadmaster should be good. Don't quote me on that though.

    Thanks for the quick responses.
Does that mean the trim peice should be the same too (if the windows are the same, seems liek the peice above the windows should be the right length).

If you find an Olds, be sure it is the 88 and no the 98, if I remeber correctly. Otherwise, what is above is correct - Special and Century 55-56, and Olds 88 55-56.

Have you tried Wheatbelt Auto in Kansas? Lots of Buick stuff and a good reputation.

Also pay attention: Some glass from the factory was not E-Z-Eye with the light green tint. So be sure you know if yours is or not. You will want it to match.

Have fun on a cool car,

  7. I have glass from a 56 Buick Special 4 door hardtop. The chrome frames are gone so its just the glass. Shipping would be a deal killer though....I,d figure shipping around $40.00-$50.00 so it would probably be easier to get some cut.

Thanks again for the help, this is a great board.

Mine is the green tinted stuff. Tehre is a nice yard here local (in sunny Arizona) with lots of good stuff. Always nice to go pull it in person rather than shipping. Besides, you never know when you will find something else you might "need" that you werent thinking of.

I'm looking forward to finally tearing into this project a week from now... Should be a fun car.

I am sure I will be back here for lots of advise along the way.
