Replacing my rear axle wheel bearing in my 56 chevy. There is a o-ring groove on the bearing. The old bearing is mounted with the groove to the inboard side but my repair manual shows a picture where it is mounted toward the out board side. Is either way correct? the manual does not specify.
look at the seals on the bearing, what type seals are on each side? Looks like the original bearings had only one seal, one the outboard side (going by a 1955 shop manual).
