I have a 1956 Chevy 3100, 350 V8 automatic (1970 vintage), still has original brakes and axles. Don't feel safe stopping the thing, frankly. The drum brakes are in good shape and do work, but they obviously weren't designed for this much power. It currently has a Classic Performance Products (CPP) power steering system installed. I'm not going to make this a race car, so its a stock V8 with 4 barrel carb. Looking for recommendations on an aftermarket manufacturer of a disc brake system. There seems to be a number of sources, but many seem to be reselling CPP systems. Anything wrong with these, or are there better ones without breaking the bank? Planning on a split master cylinder with power assist mounted under the floor. Also planning on staying with the straight axle front end, and probably keeping the drums in the rear, but the rear end may change in the future. Thanks for your input!
Ha, I have a new-in-the-box 5 lug CPP disc conversion kit in my garage I'm not going to use. My truck is crossing over to the dark side with C4 Corvette IFS and discs so I wont use this kit. I don't know what part of the country you're in but maybe you'd be interested in having it? If so drop me a PM. I bought it because I always heard good things about the CPP kits.
