56 Chevy Front Suspension

I had a 55 Nomad back in the day with 365 inches of Cad in it. Even with the added
weight their wasn't a problem.

 

I think the suspension is fine,in stock condition,but I personally had both upper control arms fracture where the upper ball joints bolt to the arms. The 56 sedan delivery was a national record holding JR stocker for several years,but I put it back on the street. The car had spacers between the ball joints and the upper arm,and both arms cracked at the bolt holes. I got 2 used arms and cut reinforcing plates to fit where the bolts go through the arms.I sold the car about 30 years ago and it hasnt been driven since.

 

I've had my 56 for 25 years and drove it through high school, beating the **** out of it (Dukes of hazard style). Never a problem with the A-arms.
