dads56belair_rear_jpeg 09-04-2019.jpg dads56belair_rear_side_jpeg 09-04-2019.jpg My dad, Ralph Alden of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma bought this 1956 Chevy Bel Air brand new and had a guy that worked for him remove some emblems, chrome, punch louvers in hood, Scallop-Flame it and lower it to the ground. These pictures were taken just days before he traded it to a friend of his for a 1953 Ford 2dr that had the flathead bored, stroked, 3-2 intake and carbs, headers and more. Dad traded the 53 Ford in on a 1959 Chevy Impala 348/335hp 4-speed and went drag racing. dads56_belair_front_side_jpeg 09-04-2019.jpg dads56_belair_hood_jpeg 09-04-2019.jpg

    Hello,

My wife used to be a 35mm film camera photographer, with an eye for the unusual and some training from me. She has gone through all sorts of film cameras, even to the point and shoot variety. Then it was the digital point and shoot era that brought joy to millions of new photographers. It still requires composition for all photos and not just point and shoot. With the advent of more modern cameras within the latest phones, photography has taken a different approach to pictures. Some are bad and some are really good, depending on the composition and focus.

For most, the auto focus does wonders for the general photos. When shooting hot rods and trucks, things pop out that was unexpected. My wife and her sister are into historic homes. The highlight of touring those OC homes is a full neighborhood street with tons of hot rods, cl***ics and trucks. The colorful custom cars make everyone think back to the times when these homes were first built and developed.

The photos were on a bright sunny day, which made abundant shadows. This black 56 Chevy sedan stood out even with its paint job. Next to the 56 was a 55 two tone Chevy that most of the touring folks liked. It was due to the color choice and recollection of driving the two tone color family cars, instead of an all black drag racing look Chevy sedan.

Yes, the picture would be better without me in it. No, that wasn't a pose. I had just closed the door and turned around. My girlfriend was taking the picture and it startled me.
The car was Cinnamon Bronze. Straight six, 292° solid lifter cam, 2 deuces, dual-point conversion, three on the floor, '65 Impala buckets. IMG_20200218_082141.jpg

    Agreed!
The stainless free rear quarters are unique to the 150 series in '55 & '56. A clean look.
