I read that Chrysler offered Tri-Tone colors in 1956.
Was that just for the NewYorker and NewYorker St Regis, or across the board?
And, those models were also offered in single colors, right?

I just remember some of those tri color cars looking rather gaudy when they were new and I was 10 years old.

    speaking of which,
how does one discern the color code for a 56 NY ?
    Is the VIN sufficient ?
Or, what should I be looking for?

Most car makers offered 3 tone paint jobs in 1955 and 1956. It was a fad that did not last long. Typically, colors were white, black or charcoal gray, and some pastel color.

You could get it on any model with the possible exception of the cheapest line, they did not have the chrome for color separation.
