Had to spend a little money, but I got a decent 3rd member. 3.83:1 Ford Racing gear set Detroit Locker.

Had to spend a little more cash, seems like everything is going up in price. I bought the metal for the floorboards and the firewall. The firewall is roughed in, just gotta fit the steering column and clutch linkage through it and install the master cylinder.

27440.jpeg Eureka! I finally found a decent FI intake. Holman Moody Marine but it will work. I am going to send it to Alkydigger for the injection set up. I will sell the British Tecalemit Jackson set up to re coupe some of my investment.

Cool project, looking forward to watching progress. Dad ran something similar in the early 60's. I don't think it was a g***er though, will have to find out what cl*** he ran. IMG_4935.JPG

Keep at it brother! Like JVPolvere1 I've always wondered why the tri fives completely and totally overshadow the mid 50's Fords. Love this thread and your plans. I just paid for a re-core on a FoMoCo original radiator so I know you are determined not to take the easy/cheap route. Thanks for the build and this thread. Cheers!

Great job really enjoying the build. I’m a couple years older and have built a few cars of my youth one with a echo line axle and another Jr stock style and now a hot rod step side all tri 5s. Just saying who saying getting old no fun.

I can't believe it's been 4 years, and looking at these pictures not a lot has happened since then. The rear quarters are done after a false start and the roll bars are all welded. The floorboards are done as is the removeable transmission tunnel. The Detroit Locker and Moser housing is in. Oh, and Don Garlits signed my glovebox door. That won't make the car any faster but it does make it a little cooler. 1000012701.jpg 1000012700.jpg 1000012699.jpg 1000012702.jpg

Great looking roll cage! So what's holding up the build?

This is a cartoon drawing of my intended paint scheme, borrowed heavily from Dennis Carpenters image that is on some of his shipping boxes. IMG_8424.jpg

IMG_8429.jpeg Here is just one reason it has taken so long to get much progress on this g***er. (There are others) It’s my own fault, I just have too many projects. That is what’s left of a very well known late model asphalt car in this area. I’m attempting to restore it to it’s former glory. (I’d put up a picture of it in the day but it’s a ‘76 Camaro, so no)

IMG_5480.jpeg IMG_7495.jpeg IMG_3315.jpeg IMG_5414.jpeg IMG_8430.jpeg IMG_8009.jpeg Here are some more reasons for my slow progress. The wagon is all back together with a 428 and can be the g***er tow vehicle. The ‘52 pickup finished and sold. The injection unit cost and its trip to Alkydigger set the bank account back some. The panel is yard art. The focus is back on the ‘56.

Dig those headers, a closeup shot of them would fit right in

When I went through tech at our local track I was asked if the roll bar was welded to the frame, as it’s supposed to be with a full framed car. I said yes it is and it is, but he never knelt down for a look. Also the way the frame is configured in a 57 I had to build outriggers for the door bar that tie into the inside rocker and frame. Car is turning out nice. IMG_0491.jpeg IMG_0517.jpeg

Love the 56, and I can understand about too many projects. I noticed some odd ball taillights on one of your old Ford trucks. I noticed because they are very similar to what I'm running on my 49. I believe they are late 40's Chrysler Town and Country

Those are Hudson tail lights on the pickup. I didn’t use them, they were in pretty bad shape. I wound up using the ‘50s style ford truck ones shaped like the emblem.
