Man I feel your pain. Had my own problems, more because I set the engine back a bit. Is the rod that goes to the fork parallel to the frame? Could be cocking bearing on coller if it is not. Wish you was just down the road so i could look at it.

  3. I can relate.....I just got my new rear springs in to hold the car above the tires ($550) and now the damn thing sits 1.5 inches higher on one side among other small problems.........oh well your cars comin along great

yea the rod is parellel ..clutch works even though the pedal dont come back..it will engage and its smooth as hell ..i spokme to the owner of the company he sounded like a nice guy and i explained what the problem was and his answer was this ..he said and i quote ( the parts i sell are massed produced and im not the maker of them i cant say what was wrong with them my parts are the same parts other companys sell so im shure if you bought another one or if i sent you another one it would do the same thing but if you want send it back to me and ill give you full refund) which is all good but that still dont help my problem...i dont want to weld it in agsin because i think it will snap again..im thinking if i drilled a hole threw the rod and placed a small enough bolt and nut where its slipping it would stop the pedal from slipping in the pinch clamp...i have to wait till the week end to do it ive been so busy at work which im sure is a good thing ....

Ok so the clutch works but no return. Do you still have the helper spring under the dash. It looks like a hood hinge spring. How soft is the clutch ( I know dumb ? because its sliping your lever). The lever for that helper spring is adjustable and may be keeping pedal down if clutch pressure is to soft. I removed mine because pedal would stay down if shifted above 6 grand. Which lever is up on the bellcrank? The long or short one? If for some chance its a 55 one it might be upside down ( Im reachen now).

ok here is todays update i fixed the problem as far as i can tell this was the biggest pain in the ass of a job i think. what i did was this i took the pedal assembly i just bought from mutton hollow i took it back out of the car.

here is the tech part of it .this is for those of you who have the same problem with the pinch clamp slipping and pedal staying down on the floor

so if you look on the shaft with the splines there is a flat spot what i did was mark where i wanted the pedal to sit next to the brake pedal than remove the pinch clamp and the pedal assembly i drilled a 1/4 in hole in the center where the center of the pinch clamp sits now there is a big enough space there to place a 1/4 inch bolt you may have to shave the sides for it to slide down in there .after that i took a peice of threaded 5/16 rod and threaded it threw the spce where the origanl nut and bolt go which is across the flat spot.after that i cleaned and re installed the pedal assembly with all the bushing greased and set in place after that i slipped the 1/4 bolt down from the toip of the pedal assembly between the pinch clamp threw the flat spot, than i treaded the 5/16 rod across the head of the quarter inch rod .this now keep everything in place i bolted the ends of the treaded rods with the nuts flat washers and lock washers ,then put a flat washer lock washer and bolt on the 1/4 in bolt that runs up and down to the pedal assembly .this now takes care of the slack in the pedal.just for safde measure i welded the end of the splined shaft to the pinch clamp because im never taken this thng apart again if it has to come out ill go automatic...lol..after all this i put the return springon the pedal adjusted the play and now i have a clutch pedal that dont slip and engages....word of advise if you have this problem dont buy the mutton hollow pedal assembly its worse than the origanl one i started with ...not tryiong to knock them i have bought other things from them but this part is junk..try to find a origanl one ..

    todays update .

i had the day off so i went ahead and adjusted the shifter linkage so i could grab reverse gear on the muncie 4 speed ..my nephew was home so he helped out boy without him id still be there adjusting it....thanks spanky...
any how took it for a short ride around the block a couple times .watched the temp rise..so went home to let it cool down i need to set the timeing again i think its way out car get hot wont start rite up so i know what that is .thats why it runs a little hotter than normal. plus i need to add a electric fan gotta pick one up this week at the junk yard ...
this passed weekend i scored some brand new old stock 60's lap belts at the swap meet 40 bucks per belt there nice, also scored a nice new emergancy shut off switch for the battery 2 bucks ..oh and i also scored a nice used hurst floor shifter boot with a beat up chrome trim ring looks so period .the guy i got these parts from has a 55 he used to race in the early 70's he turned it back into a cruiser so he was selling all the race parts ..
so after i let the car cool down for a bit i decided to re wire the entire car i bought a 8 circut fuse box with up to date square fuses cost 6 bucks and a new selinoid 22 bucks at autozone grabbed a label maker from staples 20 bucks, went home and went to town now everything in the car is fused with updated wire and fuses ...everything works, battery is charging i think im good ..

    still to do
swap out the headers when they come
order a fuel sender for the gas tank and install
get another set of valve cover gaskets cause the 1st set are leaking ?
electric fan and wire it up
take it for a ride and enjoy it ...

Just thought of a name for the 56. There is a "traditional" wood roller coaster at a local amusement park called "Blue Streak". It's even painted the same color as your car.
Add Johnny Gee's name of Blue Yonder and the good streak you're on and there you have it. BLUE STREAK!
