Thinking real hard about converting my Fairlane to a manual but want it to look original. So, I would need a manual 3-speed column, clutch pedal ***embly, etc. Any of you guys that have converted to an automatic have those parts laying around you don’t need and would sell? My understanding is that only 56 parts will work and that even 55 parts are different. I do live close to a guy that sells 55-56 parts so plan to check with him. But, I figured I could check here as well. I guess I also need a bellhousing, flywheel, clutch fork, linkage, etc. as well. Right now, all I have is a 3-speed OD out of a 56 Tbird. Any help is appreciated. Jeff
Since you already have the Ford-O-Matic column, it is easy to convert to a Ford AOD with it's .67 Overdrive as shown in the "Sticky"
I think the 56 steering column is shorter than a 55 due to the "safety" dished steering wheel. I have seen some stock steering columns in the past that were removed when people install Borgson steering boxes and go with an aftermarket tilt column instead of cutting the stock column. Good luck! Mark
