The story that ran here a couple of days about Karol Millers Y-block Ford ago brought to mind this story in October 1956 Hot Rod magazine. Not taking anything from Bill Stroop, who was of course, one of the great engine builders, but here they had a 391 cu.in. Lincoln Y-block with Hilborn injectors and they didn't go much faster than that skinny guy from Texas named Karol Miller in a damned near stock 302 cu.in. Y'block in a '56 Ford. This just shows the genius of Karol Miller. The Cover Story The story Yep, this was "Back in the Day" .. and I love the phrase. I was there, that was my hay day ..
My dad has this magazine! 1956 Merc was Frankies 1st car in High School...not at all supped up engine wise...."Oil Clampit" because it leaked so badly....but it looked bad ass.
