Technical 56 Mercury 2 terminal oil sending unit?

Another 56 Mercury question. Ummm, never mind. My sending unit had 2 terminals but only 1 wire. After cleaning off 60 years of grease, both terminals are connected, so the 1 wire works. Cleaned them all up and the gauge works now.

 

After market unit? Do you have both idiot light and oil gauge?
