I want to put a different steering wheel on my 56 Mainline, but not sure what will work and fit the coloum right? Any suggestions? Not looking for a fantsy style, want a more old school style one.

Since Fords and Mercs used the same splines from 1949-64 any wheel could be made to work,'56 and later are dished like the wheel you have now prior wheels were flat.www.speedwaymotors.com has a large selection of retro styles and the hub adapters to match you may also want to check out ebay a lot of guys are looking for the metalflake wheels on the HAMB mainboard you may want to check the HAMB cl***ifieds also.

Well from 57 on all the Ford wheels seem to all look the same . They used the 3 spoke dish with the same style horn ring forever I think ! Sure does seem like they did . Honestly I think the Mercury's had some of the sharpest wheels of the Ford/Merc lines !
Have you considered making a kustom wheel ? You can take a wheel , then take all the plastic off down to the metal ring and cut and weld just about anything you can dream of . The make a mold and pour your own plastic on just about any color with metal flake or some other designs in the plastic . Even take clear resin and add some thing inside it . Then sand and polish it to a really high gloss !
Just some ideas of doing something different . It would really look go and no one else would have one like yours !
Of course you can alway look around and get a nice early Cal Custom 4 hole , 3 spoke metal flake wheel that always looks great too !
    just a thought .
