56 truck help

    Hey guys I need some help on how to fix my 56 chevy truck. I need to no how to fix the area right above the windsheild were the rearview is cause its rustin away. Its 1 of the last spots of rust left on it.

    It's hard to tell from the photo (can't really see much)... but you may have to find a donor truck and cut that section out and replace the area of yours that is rusted. First thing you'll have to do is get the windshield out to see how far back the rust is...

    thats the common place.
    i never fixed one but ive seen where they welded in a piece.

    As Caddy-O said, the simple way would be to cut a piece out of a doner cab and weld it in place. the other way would be to cut the section out an use it as a pattern to make your own replacement piece and weld that back in. That may actually be easier than finding a cab with a piece you can cut out.

    You could easily build a hammerform out of wood to get the shape using the cut out piece as a pattern and then use that to shape the piece.

    i agree find a donor cab or make it, i have to do the same thing with my 56 its rotted from a piller to a piller
