Question for anyone running this combo. Did you remove the steering bump stops from the original lower control arms for max travel? Also did you use original outer tie rod ends or something else? I could ream the spindle but would rather use a tie rod end that goes through a little more to get a cotter pin in.

I have the Versailles spindles on my car which are very simular to the Granada spindles. I used the factory tie rods ends with no problem. Also leave the factory bump stops. Dave (drop n stop m) said it's not a good idea to remove them as there purpose is to keep the steering box from over traveling. I haven't noticed any reduction in the turning radius at all. I had the same concern about the stops myself but everything is fine.

Forgot to add that I did have to have 1/8" machined off the top of the tie rod hole to allow for the tie rod to extend fully to be able to put the cotter pin in.

Yes, that is another option. I think a Es416 tie rod might be what I'm looking for. I'll have to order one in.

I did the Granada swap on my 54. Just my opinion , but I reamed the spindle holes because I wanted the thicker part of the ball joint firmly in the spindle for safety reasons. To do this, you do have to add some spacers between the nut and the spindle.

My reply isn't going to help you but possibly someone else in the future.

I used Granada rotors and calipers but I opted for Fat Man dropped spindles, the Areostar springs for lowering the cars came along after I used the dropped spindles, for what it's worth I am happy with this set up but had the idea of the Areostar springs been around I would have saved a lot of money and used the entire Granada setup like you guys. I called Dave and he said there was no other tie rod end that would work here. So I will grind down the top of the steering arm to be able to get the cotter pin in. Seems to be the easiest solution.

Mine is setup like Paul2748. We reamed the Granada spindle holes just enough to get the cotter pin in (allows for maximum drop) and used spacers. We used the spindles, rotors and calipers from the Granada, stock tie rod ends, and Aerostar springs. With the 5.0 up front, mine was sitting pretty close to the stock bump stops so we removed them. I need to find some thinner energy suspension ones to put back in there but now it is without.

When you say stock tie rod ends, are they 55-56 Ford or the Granada's? I have read where Versailles spindles will fit without reaming the spindle holes. Is that correct?

In my case, stock means 56 ford. Granada tie rod ends won't fit the 56 tie rods. 56 rod ends fit Granada spindles . Don't have experience with the Versailles .

I used the stock 54 tie rod ends. The Versaille spindles are supposed to have the bigger hole.
