Allright, I recently started on a project that is going to need some seat work done (2 bucket type seats), and....well, I'm just as broke as eveyone else right now. So in my parts stash, tucked away, I remember these Howad Zinc seat covers. I bought them at an estate sale 15 or so years ago. I'm thinkin, "I wonder what the chances of finding a car that needs these covers, compared to the fact I need some seats done now"? So then I start trying to fiqure out if one of the local shops would want the covers to add to their inventory, in trade for doing my seats. I'm thinking no..........they do upholstry work, not aftermarket seat covers. So I thought I might try the classifieds here on the HAMB. I have no idea what they are worth so I checked EGAY, the first similar item there is a 40-48 Chev cover, NOS aftermarket set for a front seat only, and its bid up to a whopping ten bucks. For ten bucks I'll box mine back up and stash em. Can anybody tell me what these things are worth? I know the old "They are worth whatever someone is willing to pay" thing, but really, anybody out there that is dealing in parts and knows their values, I would appreciate your input. Here is the description: They are listed as #108, colors sk-71 blue. The sticker list's all the Mopar 2 door hardtops 57-59 with 2 exceptions, the Plymouth is only 57-58, and the box say's "except Coronet Club Sedan". They are front and back seat covers, complete with the hog rings. Light blue solid with that woven multi color dark blue/light blue/silver mesh stuff. There are some nice small white tuck and roll accent panels in a couple of places. These things don't seem to be the best quality stuff, but they have never been used, no storage rot (a minor amount of dirt has come through the box........blah, blah. So anybody got a clue, fair market value? You can PM me, or if the mods don't mind and you have some wisdom to add to the subject-post away.
My dad bought a similar set for his '54 Chevy and I put them on. They say on the box that they'll fit this and that, but they're really more universal and don't fit perfectly. Still, after re-stuffing the seats and installing these with hog rings like I would for regular pre-sewn seat upholstery, they turned out decent. For a driver quality solution, they work out pretty well. I've seen tons of these sets go up for sale and the price always seems to be between $50 and $150. My old man paid about $150 for his, but only because the set happened to be turquoise and white, they matched his car pretty well. The Chevy is probably a more popular car too, so more people bid on them. From what you're describing I'd say your set would probably go for $100, if you wanted to advertise them for sale that's what I'd ask, and if they don't sell after a while you might consider a best-offer.
