He sold it before he finished it? After all that work?

Must have some other project going on that'll top it! :)

Ok Ok, I think someone is messing with ya'll. Besides, who would actually buy this thing anyway? I think I'm stuck with it from here on out. A little progress has been made. Disassembled back down to bare frame to build a compartment for the fuel cell and the battery, final finish welding and overall slickin it up. Compartment for fuel cell is built to hold an aluminum RCI 15 gallon rectangular cell, has a sending unit in it already. Also the battery will be located in the back with the cell. Maybe a little overkill but it will be strong back there.

Yep, will hold 15 gallon cell and battery

Stripped to bare frame, making sure everything is welded up good and getting ready to make it slick and shiny metal again.

Scored some different headlights and these are whats going on it.

Chassis should be ready for reassembly this weekend. Next step going to plumb brakes, electric and fuel so its a running chassis then start finish welding the body. Thats the plan anyway........

I was really bummed when I read the post that you had sold the car. I'm glad to read it was a hoax. I've enjoyed following your progress. The new headlights are a unique touch.

Love the headlights. I have the same pair for a future project of my own. Can not wait to see more progress on it.

  19. I was hoping you'd use a set of those...Dad & I have a '59, '61, '61, '63 Imperial, and those '61-'63 pod lites have always intrigued me, since I was a kid when we got the '61.

They're heavy as all hell, but it looks like you have the structure built in already...

    Very cool, indeed...

Finally got an update to post. Frame stripped bare, sprayed in epoxy primer and then some high build primer on the front rails where they were swept and tapered. Changed the rear spring out, the one it was setup with was just going to let the car sit to low. This required the spring mounts on the rearend to be redone as well since the spring in it now is wider than the old one. Cleaned up and painted the rearend and put it back it in. Mounted the fuel cell (I know its not traditional by any means but it is safe) and the battery goes in next to the fuel cell. Going to run brake lines, fuel line and battery cable next. My plan is to make this a running chassis before final paint.
