Hi Guys, posting this new question for a friend who is new to the HAMB.
I don't know how to find out info on the HAMB.
But I need help... my 57 Buick with a 2 speed tranny and a 1961 401 with a 4 barrel Edelbrock has a problem that has me stumped.... if you put the throttle to the floor it runs great until it gets up to about 60mph and then it starts pulsing acts like it is running out of gas and it is worse going uphill... ? any advise
    I have tried everything logical!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! He has tried new carb, fuel pumps, everything that he can think of.

Maybe it is running out of gas.

    Fuel filter may be clogged.

Check the rubber lines between the fuel pump and fuel tank for cracks. Could be sucking air.

5/16" fuel lines? May need to upgrade to 3/8" Most of the older cars had 5/16" fuel lines which is ok for 150 HP or so. Not so good for a stong running 401.

We have a 58 Buick Special we had the gas tank cleaned and replaced all the fuel lines to the carb as "Lobucrod" suggested. The tank still had some trash in it that caused a similar intermitant problem. The tank is out and being cleaned by a different shop.

I have to agree with Lobucrod, sounds like fuel starvation, however I'd vote for the fuel pump output being just a little behind carburetor demand so it takes awhile to empty the float bowl.

Float is not set correctly. The bottom of the float naturally wants to stay level with the earth. Once your on an incline, it is shutting the fuel off.
