finally got my 57 buick caballero rollin. bought this car a while back , it was sitting on the streets of Brooklyn. did a disc brake conversion, rebuilt the carb, went thru the lines all that. cool wagon to kick around. i wont be restoring it anytime soon, i will be doing an air ride suspension tho. it only has 40k original miles so everything mechanical is in pretty good shape. wont toy with it too much. heres how we found it. and here it is now.... WOW that's a rare find and in that part of the city. When I lived in N.J. and had to go thru there , I always remembering seeing cars being stripped for parts. I glad she found a new home. Keep us updated on your work on her. Thanks Bruce.
Fortunately for the car it had been garaged it's whole life, or most of it anyway from the original owner. The second owner left it out. It's actually pretty solid some rust in rockers but the floors are solid . Pretty much unmolested. All original with exception to a respray on fenders and hood and now the disc brakes Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

That's a pretty rare bird, and definitely on my list of "wants"! I looked for several years to find one, and when I did, it was in upstate NY and rotten thru and thru. Great save! Buicks outshine the tri-5 Chevies in regards to styling IMO. Beautiful!!!! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
From Brooklyn to Long Beach that once in a row! Usually west coast to east coast. Great wagon, enjoy to the max! KK
I am totally groovin' on that car!....I can't remember the last time I saw a 57' Buick Caballero wagon....unique styling, that works the design rather nicely....I'm really am diggin' those fins on the back end!!! Fantastic cruisin' with tons of room.....''Nice''
wow...that's cool....good save....guess we need to get up to Brooklyn to see what's laying about......
I'm a senior-senior citizen---When I was a high school student in 1957 our local Buick dealer had a Caballero as his personal car. Being an old Hot-rodder, it got a Mcculloch supercharger put on it before it left the showroom! Man, what a cruiser!! It left a lasting impression that I remember to this day!
Mook, THANK YOU! for getting rid of that god-awful whip antenna. If I would have bought that car that would have been the first thing that I did as well! What a great find! Enjoy it. Thor
Ya it bugs me. I'll most likely weld it up and spray some red oxide primer there to make it look like the rest of the car. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Mechanically the car is great. The seller had problems getting it running , so I was able to get it for a non running price . The battery cables were on backwards. The ground wire was red but it was on the positive and the other was black but was on the negative terminal, whoever put them on didn't realize it so we switched them and it fired right up like it was never off the road. I did the disc conversion with dual master cylinder , rebuilt carb, had the tank coated. I really want to lower it but not gonna happen til next year. The most difficult part was dealing with the seller. Used car salesman who didn't give a shit about a 4K old junker. We are nomad guys but really like the hardtop wagons. We also have a 57/58 fiesta wagon. The pictures make them look nicer than they really are. None of them are restored. 20 footers at best. Paint isn't great on either but we drive em, don't need anything show. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Not that you asked, but that's my vote as well. That '57 Olds is killer. Shiny paint makes all the difference.
