New here - I think this is the right place to post, let me know if not. New to me 57 that'd been in storage for over 30 years. Trying to ID the front axle to make disc brake conversion easier. Looking to get the structural stuff done, then get it running/driving to have some fun with it before restoring the body. Going to run an LS with a 6-71 and a 4L80 out of another project to get the look and make it somewhat highway friendly. Any recommendations for rear suspension? Currently it has leafs that are trashed and the ladder bars are gone. I'm either going to do new leafs with sliders and ladder bars (more original looking) or coil overs on ladders with a pan hard bar. Car will be a cruiser with an occasional trip down the strip.
Any thoughts or info are appreciated :)

No, It's just a 6L LS1, I run a shop and buy them whenever I can get them for LS swaps

Too bad about the disk brakes and LS motor. Looks like a cool solid old race car with the F1 front axle and brakes.

Yeah I ran my Big block 62F-100 with drums at the drags years ago - call me a *****, but not doing that again, lol. Thanks for the axle tip

I've been racing my 59 chevy truck at the drag strip for over 4 decades, on and off, with drum brakes...but since it's not real fast (low 14s at best), it's not a problem.

neat how it has a Ford truck axle in a 57 Chevy, don't see that often! I have seen the earlier transverse leaf setup under Chevys

how serious will the engine be in this one? turbo or na?

Right on - maybe I can set it up with a dual master cylinder to give me some measure of safety if I blow something in the brake hydraulics (happened to me once in the 62).
I am going to use the thing to tow my 72 Hondo boat to shows, but it's light....
The engine will be a blown 6L. I know it's not period correct, but I have a 6-71 with dual carbs on it and retro valve covers that hide the coils, so it doesn't look like some plastic LS junk, lol.
