I am trying to get the factory switch to work but am banging my head on the wall. Anybody got a simple diagram showing what goes where? My cheapie ezwire booklet doesn't quite show me anything.

If I remember on my car correctly the switch wiring is almost identical as a 79-87 C-K1500, except the front parking lights drop out when the lights come on with the 57.

Red is your main power, Yellow goes to the high beam selector, Purple is front parking lights, Black is rear parking lights, White is dome lights, Orange is something for the brake lights also I believe, Dark Green is dash lights.

I think the orange is hot also and it jumps power to the brake switch.

That would probably solve it...I had an extra hot on the green(I think) and my taillights stayed on. I'll try the orange.

Maybe this will give a little more info:
1>Red is Battery and hot all the time. It is unfused going to the headlight switch but the switch has a fuse in it for the headlights.
2>Orange is fused 12 volts hot all the time. It is connected to several circuits, including supplying power to the brake light switch, but on the headlight switch it doesn't do anything for the brakes. It supplies power to the rear running lights and dash lights so that when its fuse blows you will notice that the dash and running lights are out without having to look at the back of the car.
3>White is grounded by the switch to turn on the dome light.
4>Violet (purple) is the front parking lights. It goes on in the parking light position and is off in the headlight position.
5>Yellow is "headlights on" power to the dimmer switch.
6>Dark green feeds the fuse for the gray wire for the dash lights.
    7>Black is rear running lights.
