buggy, did you ever find an emblem for your truck? i finally got my lcf home, i am pretty excited to get it home, have not had a chance to get if off the trailer yet, but it is here. i may be able to get my emblem/hood ornament off and make a casting of it if you can't find another one. here are the pics so far: http://s1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee466/macgyver37/55/

no emblem as of yet. what do you mean by making a casting? what would you cast it in?

I have access to the foundry at the university here that i took a couple cl***es in. I have a 37 gmc that had both headlight mounts broken and i was able to use what was left as a pattern and our new ones out of aluminum. I was thinking that it may be wrth trying to take my emblem if it is the right one and using it as a pattern to make one out of aluminum. You would need to do some finish work possibly, maybe even get it chromed, but it may look fine polished with a clearcoat. I'm just throwing the idea out there.

oh, if there was a material other than aluminum, we could do it too, aluminum is just the most poured, and other metals could get expensive, just have to ask.

Aluminum would be fine by me. The 55 is different than the 57 but would fit the hood. I would be fine with it. I just need something to put on the hood. There is one on it right now but it is off a pick up and jerry rigged on. it is not the correct shape to sit on the hood and you can see an 1" gap most of the way around it. If you are intersted in making one I am intersted in it.

worked on the front clip tilt today. I reused the tilt mechanism from the GMC and have the front clip mounted and flipping. I added the pics to my webshots album

No pictures of any progress but I have still been at it. I am working on figuring out how to put all the behind the dash mechanicals and climate control from the gmc in. I have everything stripped out from the dash. The only trinket I found in there was an old match book with a 1/2 naked woman on it. Appears to be from the 70's. The gmc had the master and booster behind the dash. It appears I have a space issue. I might just cut out the firewall and start from scratch with a new one. Someone already helped me by butchering it to get the orginal motor out of the truck. At least my engine is almost completely under the cab so I have room to extend the firewal out to where I need it. one cool thing is it looks like I will be able to use the GMC wiper moter so I will have delay wipers. I'll take some pics as I go this week and post them.

Posted some pics of the firewall progress on my webshots. All I got to say is it is functional. Looks like some boxes sticking out of the firewall. It was like trying to fit 20 lbs if sh@# in a 5 lb bag. With the addition to the firewall, my truck is now a true cab over. The engine will be completely under the cab now. I am going to make the front floor boards so the unbolt and come completely out for engine work. One nice thing about this ch***is is the engine and ****** cross member bolt to the bottom of the frame so if I had to get the engine out it will come out the bottom. At least I will not have to fill any unwanted old holes in the firewall. I am pulling the dash and going to make a highbred of the 57 dash and a 56 Gmc dash so the 2003 gauges and heater controls will fit.

That does look pretty good. The only thing I see that might be an issue is getting to the back seat since the cabs are so small in the front. My first thoughts when I started mine was to do it that way. I am going to try to contact the person to get more info

After an unplanned trip to Mexico for work and getting over being sick, I finally got back on the truck. I was going to just get the cab in primer and then work on the doors but figured I would get the entire cab ready first. Been working on the drivers side this week. Welded up 26 mirror holes and started doing the body work on the front door. Seems someone must have really used this as a truck after discovering just have many little dents and ripples are on this thing. The rear door body work is comming along pretty good also. Can't wait till its all im primer and interior painted. I might actually be able to reclaim 1 stall in my garage after the interior and gl*** is in. Thinking I am going to paint the cab and front clip before I set it on the ch***is. My new goal is 5 weeks til paint. Then I will start on the bed. I will try to get some new pics posted on my webshots this weekend. I think the wife is getting nervouse that I will not get it done in time. She told me she was not sitting on some damn milk crate getting to our first camping expidition. Memorial day weekend should be out first trip and I am not worried. It will be done.

I posted a couple pics in my webshots. I am about 90 % done on the doors and center post on the driver side. I am working on the power window mechanism for the back door right now. once I get everything close I'll pull the doors off and finish them with some icing topcoat bondo. I should have the driver side ready for primer by the end of the week. The p***enger side front door is almost dent free so it should go quick except for all the previous mirror holes. I also already have the center post done. Hopefully a couple more weeks until primer. Then I can start ***embling stuff.

I am down to finishing the dash, both p***enger side doors and fender portion on the cab. Looks to be in final primer and interior painted in two weeks then paint the complete cab by the end of the month. will put on the ch***is once painted. Put my seats in for a test fit and make the mounts today. Seems like I am finally getting some where. First trip pulling the camper is Memorial day weekend. that should give me 6 weeks to get the front clip and bed done. I threw some more pics on my web shots.

  17. It's looking real good man!
Primer is always such a big step and a great one, because it gives you a new perspective on it, and tends to really bring the thing to life.
    Pretty deluxe looking seating also.

Shot some paint on the inside and door jambs. Got two doors to block sand tomorrow and paint the inside. Other two already done. Plan to paint the floor with rust sealer product and spray bed liner in the foot wells by the end of the week end I should be starting ***embly on the cab. Next weekend is paint for the outside then on the ch***is. Seems to be moving along pretty quickly now. Posted some pics on my webshots and album here.
