So I have this little issue that is driving me nuts. The rear view mirror on my 57 has gotten really loose. Driving down the road it keeps falling so that it's facing the floor. I adjust it and 10 minutes later it's facing the floor again. I would rather fix it than replace. Any thoughts??

loc***e? But first look at it and see what's wrong, are the threads in the screw hole stripped?

Aside from Chevy mirrors not staying in place sunvisors do the same annoying droop. Anyone have a solution other then loc***e? I've read several threads stating the kits to repair the sunvisors are worthless.

I think he is saying the mirror housing part is loose on the pivot ball part, Ive seen em get loose in diffrent cars and trucks but dont know that Ive ever fixed one. I wander if you could take it off and cautiously go around the edge of the ball housing with a hammer and chisel (screw driver) and knock/press the edge of the housing in enough to tighten it.
....or maybe you could mar the ball with a center punch or sharp chisel while having the mirror turned away from the area of the ball you are working on then turn and do another area of the ball???

I think squirrel maybe thought you were talking about the threads and maybe you were but the loc***e might work on the ball as well??? or some JB weld would hold it in place but if you didnt want it locked in place you might also try a thin coat on the ball in a area while the mirror is turned as far away from it as possible then after it dries turn it back over the area to create a shim...???

  8. I agree with Squirrel. I had the same problem with my outside mirror on my Oldsmobile station wagon . I backed the screws out and put some Loc***e on the threads and re tighten them .Havent had a problem since then and I always have problems. lol. and good luck. Bruce.
