First off, I'd like to say WOW!! Thank you everyone for all the posts in regards to the car. Any little bit of info I get is tremendously helpful. Like I said, as I get more info and pics I'll keep posting it. So here are a couple more of the engine compartment and interior. I spoke to the gentleman that is actually purchasing the car this morning, and he is going to make arrangements for the two of us to go take a look at it later this week. I have not yet seen the car in person, but as soon as I do I am going to look for any evidence of roll bar or cage, and anything else that may tell me more about this car. He did tell me there are ladder\traction bars welded in to the rear end, and what looks to be a push bumper in back instead of the stock bumper.

With the canister for the road draft tube it is certainly not a late model SBC. Also with the stock engine mount towers still in place it is not likely that it was a big block car (possible I suppose). I have three different sets of big block mounts for these cars and I do not believe any can be used with the stock towers in place. There could be other mounts I suppose.

The way the engine is hanging it appears there is no trans (or no trans mount or x member).

If it ran a small block in the early 60s, I believe if it was blown it would get bumped into BM/SP. But then what about the hood scoop (if the hood is original from it's racing days)? There very well may be some modifications to a small block that could get it bumped into BM/SP (especially in the early 60s), so it may be interesting to see if you can track any history.

It is not unusual for old drag cars to have another replacement engine placed in the car, but this car may pose a few questions. Hopefully you can dig up some history and put any questions in their place.

Whatever it is a good find.-Jim
