Hot Rods 57 FORD Build #2... Glutton for Punishment.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jeff Norwell, Oct 20, 2021.

  1. Why diagnose......rip it all out and start over with new...............just not new from China.
This is where I gotta put my 2 cents in for Ron Francis wiring. Do one of their's and you'll enjoy wiring like Jeff (and myself)!
My first wiring ever was my avatar...........OT drivetrain had 93 wires coming off engine and tranny to the computer. That's not including the chassis harness. I had to call them once......took 5 minutes.

  2. I used a Kwik Wire harness on my car, 50-odd wires so it wasn't bad. Had to scratch my head a few times, only 1 mis-wire and a bad solder sleeve connection.

    I was just wondering....
I have a proposition for you. Since you like Y blocks so much, that you painted that old FE block to look like one. I would be willing to take it off your hands and trade you a
1954 Ford (239 ?) Y block even swap. All you have to do to it is replace the rear main seal and give it
a fresh red paint job and bolt it in. Just think about all the gas that you would be saving with the stock 2 barrel carburetor. Then you will not have people picking on your car at cruises and telling you that you have the wrong engine. Ray

Are you actually telling me that you are turning down such a good deal?
How about if I include a 2 barrel carb rebuilding kit ?

Throw in the front and rear glass rubber and he may change his mind.

  8. You might get more interest if you can include a dyno sheet showing that 239 can thump out 350+ HP.... LOL...

I don't think Jeff is too worried about fuel economy...

How about if I install the front and rear glass for you as part of the deal?
You already know that I have installed several 57 - 58 Ford glass. But I will only do it after your headliner is installed. Ray

If you think that a dyno sheet will do the trick, I'll try to find an artist somewhere and have him make me one. I need that FE engine for a late model car.

BTW... Imay have heard of an artist that may be capable of drawing you a dynosheet for your 239... but he´s way up north. I mean waaaaay up there.

I love 57 fords.. years ago had a 2 door 500 with a factory 312. Regret was selling it everyday. Was moving and couple only keep 1. Decided on the 58 t bird, couldn't tell you why...
    Amazing work!

  16. I think i'll always love the look of a 500, the faux gold trim and the chrome flows better when it follows the body and fins, just in my opinion.

So with in 45 minutes... all was installed..... pretty easy and the big 1-1/8 swag bar is a M A S S I V E improvement over the silly little girl 7/8's factory unit.
I have one on the other 57...... and the difference is night and Day.
    Well worth the investment.

As a side note... the bumper brackets are sandwiched between the big L brackets and the frames..... I will do that later... I know I will take a knee cap off if I put them on now.....

So.. had a fitment issue with my traction masters.........
at the spring pocket end.... the retaining bar flat stock bracket.. was just hitting the frame.
Not good.. the spring will flex under hard acceleration or even normal driving conditions.
    Very tight area.
So..I mentioned this to my pal Terry and he asked to make a new bracket to solve the issue.
he really likes solving these type of issues.... so I did a doodle of what I thought and the issue,.. and he bent up some stock and it works perfect.
    a sandwich wrap of sorts....
did a test fit today and ready to install.

That dude Terry,... is the cats meow... and a hardcore Ford man..... he is building a 427 Hi-Riser and another side oiler under his work bench.
We get along well and have a great many laughs.
