Been driving by this truck for several weeks and my curiosity finally got the best of me. Owned by a local engine builder. It has the correct Pontiac engine with hydromatic trans, Big window and all the correct parts from the back of the cab forward. The unusual thing is the length of the box. It has the correct distance between the cab and the rear fender for a long box but the distance between the back of the rear fender and the end of the box is like a short box. It's a factory frame, box and fenders. Box is longer than a short box but shorter than a long box. Something special for a GMC?

The distance between the fender and box at the front is the same as the picture but the back is tighter.

are you sure what year it is? I don't know for sure about GMC, but Chevy long bed trucks changed from 90" bed length in 1956, to 98" bed length in 1957.
