Royce Brechler built a clone of this car. I saw it in Ohio at the yblock shoot out. Great impressive car with HILBORN on the merc. here's the article. I can't find my picture of it, I know there must be some othes out there-it's to unusual. He drove it down the strip just for the heck of it. http://www.stockcarracing.com/featuredvehicles/134_0501w_1957_mercury_monterey/index.html

kultuz, how will we know when the new mercury -edsel - lincoln engine forum will be up an happening and where will it be.
I asked my dad about the Mermaid, he's an insane Ford and Merc nut when it comes to 57's. He has an issue of an off-brand mag from the late 50's that has a full article on the car with it's performance times. Also, it is in a private collection now. It was featured a few issues back in Quicksilver, the International Mercury Owners club mag. Hope that helps your quest.
I collect Australian UTE literature and images and someone sent me this picture. Don't know much about it other than it looks like someone made a Mercury Ranchero by using a 57/58 ranchero body and putting a mercury front end side trim and quarters on it? They did make Merury UTEs in Australia but they were in the 40s I will add some pictures of them here

Wow, what a bunch of very rare and super cool Mercs. The first post by Ron S. is from the winter show in Grand Island, Ne., I was there and saw that cruiser and it is the nicest I have ever seen. It is so well restored and super neat. That wonderful roadster in the shot is the awesome one built by Kroylon32, and is way fine. Thanx for showing all the rare rides. ~sololobo~
