Can't see the headlights that well...'57's had single headlights and a park lite next to it...'58 had dual headlights...could be a Belvedere... According to my book, only the '58's had a hood emblem like the one shown...and the fender "spears"were only that year as well...so, must be a '58... R-
It's a '58 Belvedere 2 dr hdtp. '58s had quad headlights and an emblem on the hood. '57s had dual headlights (the inner "headlights" were actually turn signals) and PLYMOUTH spelled out on the hood. That car looks very buildable. Are ya gonna get it?
"I made an offer. I'm sick! The last thing I need is another hulk" Thats the same reason the rest of us have all the stuff we have.
I've always wanted a two door post '57 Plymouth (Savoy maybe?) like a buddy had in 1961. I've NEVER seen one for sale, just hardtops. I have a Chrysler Hemi that just needs to be in it, three speed and all. Tubman
That's a '60 Dodge steering wheel in there, neat piece. I'd be squealing like a little ***** to get my hands on that car, even though it's rough. Push****on Torqflite and a V8 to boot, that's definitely a builder being that it's a 2 door hardtop.
Yes as stated above, it is a '58 Belvedere. At least the fenders are. Not sure what sidetrim that is. Looks similar to the '58 Savoy, with the line going straight to the tail light. Belvedere base trim was similar, but had a kick up at the fin. That is a '60 Dodge steering wheel! One of my favorites! Looks like a ton of work, but it is a real-deal 318/auto Belvedere coupe and probably worth saving even with all that crash damage if its not too rusty. If you decide to part it out, the pieces will sell like hotcakes. Good find!
Dont Forget, Some Dodge and Plymouth Canadian models were different than the U.S.A cars.. even the chrome trim will sometimes be different..
Tis true some of our Canadian cars are different. I installed a 392 in a similar car once for a friend from Montreal. It was not a piece of cake but it did go in well. Mounts were slightly different which I hadnt counted on. Used to be a C/A running out of Quebec called the Quebec Express. It was just at the tail end of its career when I saw it. Probably the worlds first funny car if truth be known. I wonder if anyone has pics of it. Don
You might want to take a very good long at what the car may need. A friend has been working on bringing a '57 back to life and he found that many parts are very hard/ nearly impossible to find. When he finds something the prices are astronomically high. There's virtually nothing repopped for these cars. But, they are way coooool. Good luck, 'hope it works out for you. Dave
Well, now that I can see the side trim, I'd suggest Savoy, as 19,500 Savoy 2 dr hdtps were produced in '58 (rarer than Belvedere at 36,043 but not as rare as Fury at 5,303). Christine the movie car was a '58 as well, not a '57. In the first edition hard cover of the book, Stephen King is sitting on the hood of a '57, but in the book as well as the movie, it's a '58
there's a thread @ forwardlook where a guy is putting a Chr Hemi in a '56-57. A center sump Dodge or DeSoto would be an easier fit.
I believe 57-59 Dodge and Plymouth 2 door hardtop doors will interchange. It's the fenders that will cost a fortune, so hopefully they're saveable. I'm parting out a '57 Belvedere right now if there's something you need, although mine is a 4 door and the front fenders are completely wasted so those items I don't have.
Not a Belvedere, they had two chrome strips like the Fury except they didn't kick up at the fin. The four headlights aren't a sure indicator of the year either, they came along in late '57. The taillights are the giveaway, the '57 had vertical strip lights going up the fin, the '58 had smaller half-round ones and a spear of chrome up the fin. Grille below the bumper is different, too.
I think just the horn is Dodge, But if it was made in Canada the car could be badged as a Dodge, with Plymouth side trim Hove
