57 tail light socket

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rodwerkz, Aug 2, 2011.

  1. recently took on a 57 sports sedan i'm turning into a mild custom.. started putting her ass end together and after bolting in the new tailight housings i found that they didn't have sockets? I guess the previous owner didn't know that and sold the old ones off? Any ideas where i can locate replacements?

If i can't find them i guess i can cut off the factory pigtails (which would be a shame), can someone suggest a good retrofit socket i could use?

  3. Just go to Auto-Zone and get the universal sockets off the rack. You can find the proper electrical fittings to plug into the original pigtail if that is important to you at any electrical supply or perhaps even at the Zone or parts house of your choice.

The problem I have with my 63 bel air is new sockets don't fit tight. Often find them laying loose in the trunk area not in the socket. they are temperamental and have to be turned just right. Aggravates me.
