Bought this Fleetside from another HAMBER a couple of weeks ago and started to work on it last night. Although the SBC in it now runs pretty good it seems to be a little tired. So, first on the agenda is to swap put the engine and clean things up a bit under the hood.

After I get the new motor in I am going to repair some rust, straighten out some body work, and re-paint the truck. Right now it doesn't have a bed in it because of the bags and c notch, so I'll probably try to figure that problem out when I can get to it. The goal is to drive her down to Austin in April.

If anyone has ever put a wooden bed back in a bagged truck I would really like to get some ideas on how you did it.

Here is a link to more pics of the truck. I am sure it will look much better when Caddy-O is finished with it. I am really glad it went to the owner it went to. The new engine is going to look so much cooler.

Here is a good link for air bag parts. these guys have just about everything.

I will also try to find some pics of trucks with bed floors that accommodate a step notch.

I cant wait to see the engine compartment when your done.

That bumper sure looks cool!! What model 58 is it from and did you have to do much modificaiton to the mounts to get it on the Apache?

Although the 58 Car Bumper was already on the truck when I got it, it looks like they lowered the mounting points down about 2" on the bottom of the frame to get it to work. The bumper edges are tight against the body but I think that I can stretch it out enough to get the clearance that it needs.

Dropped53 there is a link on a post above that shows a couple of pictures of the airbag set up. I'll probably change it up a little later but for now it works good for me.

Painted the firewall, installed the new engine, and cleaned things up under the hood a little; nothing earth shattering but I was glad to get it done. Starting on the body work soon. First photo is what it looked like before, second is the way it sits now

I feel like i missed something. You guys arent calling that front bumper a stock chevy truck bumper are you? If so it's most definatly not. Sure like it wraps around the front chin area though. Thats gonna be a bitchin truck when finished.

that hood ornament is awesome. how do you guys always seem to know that kinda stuff will just fit??

the trucks looking much better. you gotta get rid of those stock chains in the back for the tailgate cause they are funky on a custom truck and put a bed in the thing lol

looking real good though, hope to see more progress soon!

Yeah... those tailgate chains look a little bulky back there. A hidden latch would clean things up a lot for sure.
