So I have a '58 F100 short box that was lowered (improperly) when I got it, but not running. We got it running and I took it for a test drive and there was an awful screeching coming from under the cab. After inspection I found that my drive shaft was rubbing against the cross member. I had the lowering job redone by flipping the leaf springs under the rear axle. I considered notching the cross member for clearance but thought the weight of the bed would only readjust and continue rubbing. What are my options here?
My old 60 F100 truck I had to notch that crossmember, unles you do a 2 piece Shaft? You might also come across other gremlins such as driveline angles that are better to be addressed now rather than later.. You have pics of the crossmember? Maybe someone has a better suggestion
Did you lower yours like mine? I may have to look into notching the cross member and doing the two piece
