Holden did build a 2 door sporty wagon in 1958. Well,they're only sporty years later, once people them lowered and a nice set of rims of course. I have a mate with an FC panel wagon, 2 doors, back seat that folds out of the floor, sliding side glass for back seat passengers. It's a cool thing.
Yeah, FE-FC panel vans look great with a little work, and my idea for the back seat is similar to your mates. I know a couple of FB-EK "Nomads" have been built, but I prefer the FC front and rear, I've never been a fan of the '57 Chevy-esqe styling of the later models.
Your models looks back dated. It looks like a 55 model year here in the states. Rough but kool, I must like it because im a wagon guy.
Oh yeah, Holden were terrible for that. Our '55 model looked like something from the 40's, the 57-59s looked like US 1955 models with 1940s interiors. Holden didn't really catch up design-wise until the mid 60s.
Just a quirk. I'm not the best illustrator, but I think I can generally get across what I picture in my head.
I think you should lose the bumper horns and replace the turn indicators with simple round ones -help accentuate that nice grill. Kelvin
Alrighty, update time! We tested the Y-block on our homebuilt test stand and it runs like a fine watch. It probably needs a little bit of TLC since it was used in a truck but I'm pretty happy with it as it is. Bodywork wise I don't think I'm far off chopping it now. I bought a pair of rough sedan rear doors to use instead of the unique wagon rear doors (spares for the good car). Gathered up a fair few NOS parts, and a few nice interior pieces. I wish I had some photos, but I'm on a new phone. I do however have a picture of my soon-to-be daily. Things are gonna get really busy soon, haha.

Looks like this is turning into a tale of two Holdens wagons! One wild custom and one mild. A couple of days ago I dragged my Dad's old FC Special home. This one was parked up in 1987 after a run-in with a power-pole. It's the car my late grandmother taught me to drive in. Dad wants this one to be the car he would have had in the 80's, a nice, warmed up little mild custom wagon.
Thanks to the wizards over on the photoshop thread, I now have some idea of what I want this thing to look like. I'm also kind of playing with the idea of using a later FB/EK Dash, steering wheel and column so it doesn't look so pre-war in the cabin.
