Might go pick it up tomorow for a couple hundred. Front looks 58 , but the tailights i'm not sure of.
No plans yet, just hate seeing cars sitting and rotting. I've always wanted a Lincoln and the price is right.
Great car If ya have room for it. I turned a 59 down cause it wouldn't fit in my driveway let alone my garage.
Awesome car, I'd be all over that. I thought 58's came with round tail light lenses, same ones were used in '59 Edsels. Have these been changed, or?
That's what I thought. I can't find any pics on the net with these taillights. The front end is a dead giveaway though.
'58 Lincoln lines: Capri Premier Continental Main differences 'twixt the Premier & Capri is that the Premier got chrome rocker trim, and a star at the front of the side spear. Continental had a 4-dr hdtp, but that one had the reverse-slant, retractable rear window. Assuming its the Lincoln Capri 4-dr Landau hardtop sedan, it's style # 57A, one of 3,084 units. Shipping weight is a sprightly 4,810 lbs. All '58s came with the 375-HP 430, tho there was an optional Tri-P 430 w/ 400 HP.
..i think it was planned to just be extravagant. I've got a '58 F100, and well- Ford was doing some funky stuff then. Like they were trying to be different or "futuristic", but the designwork was pretty uninformed. That's what gives it character I think.
I would guess it's a premier with that back glass, the continental had back sloping rear window and a criss-cross grille. The other two models also had no side trim.
Looks like a 58 Lincoln Premier 4 dr landau. I have one which I completely restored in the mid 90's. Mine was in better shape than the one you have when I started the restoration. A restoration on one of these cars is ambitious, difficult and time consuming. The engine is pain to work on, especially the front part. Almost every fastener on the body is fine thread. Behind the dash is a mass of wires and hoses. The chrome and trim work would be very expensive these days. My restoration took 4 years of pretty steady work. The car is 229 inches long, or a little over 19 feet. The best guy in the old Lincoln parts business is Chris Dunn at Lincoln Land in Clearwater Florida. A really good guy and fair prices, and he knows the car. Good Luck, Have Fun! And don't forget to bring your wallet, because you're going to need it.
Looks like a 58 Capri 4 door hardtop Landau Sedan to me. The 58 was the longest Lincoln of the fifties. I have a 56, could'nt imagine having anything longer. Cool car, hope it works out for ya.
