Technical 58 Pontiac Emblem Removal

  1. Ok….. before I break something, what is the proper way to remove these? C5394FCE-1C85-4CCE-A901-700758FE0300.jpeg
     
  2. I don't know if there's a "proper" way, but there is a way. The clip is spring steel to flex when pushed on and the points dig in to prevent coming off.
    I've had some luck bending the points with a small screwdriver or awl-type tool and then poping the clips free.
    Don't drop the clips in the gap. Gently hammer the 'points' back down flat-ish for re-use. Do a minimum amount of bending....... just enough to come off and just enough to hold on if re-used. The clips will 'fatigue' easily to too much bending.

    Carefully. I use the dental picks and wedge out one side of the pointy things.. I have a magnet on a stick so it doesn’t fall where I can’t get to it.

    A bit of penetrating oil wouldn't hurt.

    I bet the clip is much easier to replace than the trim. Sacrifice the clip...
